Voice of the sector

Many of our member organisations are volunteer-led and do not have free time to attend partnership meetings etc. KYA core staff link closely with Kirklees Council’s Children Services and represent the interests of member organisations, providing feedback to members through the monthly newsletter and quarterly network meetings.

KYA currently attends:

  • The Regional Youth Work Unit’s (Yorkshire and Humber) Sector Leads group and VCS Group

  • Kirklees Children and Young People’s Partnership

  • Kirklees Youth Development Programme Board (KYA co-chairs the Community Youth Offer workstream)

Programmes & Partnerships

KYA is keen to bring member organisations together to form new partnerships. We also develop programmes which meet local needs and which can be delivered by members.

Our first flagship programme is "Healthy Holidays" which provides healthy meals, exercise, and enrichment activities to free school meals eligible children in the school holidays.

We are also developing new youth offers "from the ground up", with community partners.

See below for further information.

Healthy Holidays

Although it looked different in Summer 2021 because of the Government’s HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) investment, KYA has a “Healthy Holidays” contract with Kirklees Council until the end of March 2023.

Integrated community youth offers

KYA is currently coordinating community youth partnerships in the Colne Valley, Holme Valley and Batley.

In 2021, we are proud to have supported the launch of two new integrated offers for children and young people.
